Sign Your Direct Loan Master Promissory Note for 2008-09

Federal Stafford and PLUS loan processes have changed for the 2008-09 academic year for Main Campus and Law School students. All students who wish to borrow federal student loans must electronically sign (e-sign) a Federal Direct Loan Master Promissory Note at https://dlenote.ed.gov/. The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) will no longer be able to process federal loans through private lenders.Follow the instructions below for Federal Direct Stafford Loans.1. Check Pipeline (https://pipeline.wayne.edu/) to accept all or a portion of your Direct Stafford loan awards.2. First time Stafford loan borrowers must complete Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling.  This is an online process which may be completed at http://mappingyourfuture.org/se.3. Complete your MPN online at: https://dlenote.ed.gov/.  Students are strongly encouraged to e-sign their Direct Loan Master Promissory Note by August 8, 2008 for timely processing of their loan funds.  Graduate PLUS Loan borrowers should check the OSFA webpages for additional instructions: http://www.law.financialaid.wayne.edu/pdf/2008-09_student_loan_process.pdf.

Financial Aid will be credited to student accounts to pay for tuition and fees for Law School students with no outstanding requirements.  When these charges are paid, the University Student Accounts Receivables Office will refund your remaining aid, if any, to you in a mailed paper check or via direct deposit. Students are advised to check the status of their financial aid disbursements in Pipeline.  Make sure you have submitted all requested documents and completed all required steps to secure your financial aid funds.  You can review your file status in Pipeline and check for any outstanding requirements.  ALL students who have been offered and have accepted Federal Direct Stafford loan(s) must complete a new Master Promissory Note (MPN).  Students can e-sign the MPN online at http://www.dlenote.ed.gov/.
